Exercise can be fun!

The weekend is always the best time for me to get my exercise, simply because I don't have to work. Although I love my Wii workout, that's really more for the middle of the week. I've started planning my weekends to include lots of physical activities, without the dread of actual exercise. Weight Watchers stresses that you don't use the term 'exercise', but rather 'activity'. I would agree. 'Exercise' can strike fear into the hearts of even the healthy, whereas 'activity' implies something fun.

So here's what I have planned for the next few weekends as 'activity':

Friday, Mar 25: Weeding My Garden
Oh my goodness, the weeds have just taken over! I have 3 birdfeeders very close to the garden, so seeds get thrown in it all the time. The seeds have started growing plants, so I will be digging around tonight, pulling all of them out.

Saturday, Mar 26: Fort Worth Zoo
specifically for the new Museum of Living Art. Last time we went, MOLA was still under construction. That zoo has been in desperate need of a new herpetarium for eons, and I'm so glad it's finally here! My husband is overly excited and has been asking me to go to the zoo for 6 months. The weather is perfect right now, so I think it's about time we go :) (Fort Worth Zoo)

Sunday, March 27: Fort Worth Botanical Gardens
I have yet to discuss this much, but I LOVE GROUPON. I am signed up for deals in 3 different cities, and I purchase at least 1 Groupon a week. One of the ones I am most excited about was the discount Couple's Membership to the Botanical Gardens. Although most of the Gardens are free, the Conservatory and Japanese Garden are not. I paid $20 for a $60 membership, and I can't wait to use it! We'll be going to the Japanese Garden on this trip, and I'll be taking my camera with me :) My goal is to start visiting the Gardens at least every other weekend, to make full use of the membership, as well as relax in a serene setting before I have to head back to work for the week. (Fort Worth Botanical Gardens)

Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3: Tommi's Coming to Visit!
One of my husband's best friends is coming over for the weekend! He was one of the groomsmen at our wedding, and we really don't get to see him often enough. This weekend is the Deep Ellum Arts Festival. I just love free stuff like this! Live music, plenty of local art, and alcohol. (Although I'll be good and not drink very much...) I'm looking forward to exploring the festival with the guys, and finding a club to hang out at after the festival closes. (Deep Ellum Arts Festival)

Saturday, April 9: Dallas Auto Show
Woohoo! Another awesome Groupon find. Tickets for adults to the Dallas Auto Show are normally $12 a piece. Today's Groupon was $6 for two tickets! Of course I bought them. I'll get plenty of exercise walking around the huge show, drooling over all the cars :) (Dallas Auto Show)

Sunday, April 10: Botanical Gardens
Okay, if I'm not completely exhausted from the Auto Show on Saturday, then I think we'll head back to Fort Worth for another visit to the Gardens.

I'll be posting pictures as these events occur. My challenge to you? Get out there and find some activity of your own!
