Wind Down Wednesday - Delirium

I have always loved the band Delirium. Their music never fails to relax me, no matter how stressed I am. My favorite song, by far, is Silence. It features Sarah MacLaughlin. I hope this helps you Wind Down this Wednesday!

Tasty Tuesday - Fiance's Favorite

I haven't talked much about my personal life, but Razure is a very important part of it. We are getting married on Halloween this year. He can't cook to save his life, so he loves that I can. And I never fail to cook something that he devours. He loves Beef Stroganoff, and so do I. For years I would just make Hamburger Helper, and then I found Homemade Gourmet's Stroganoff Made Easy. And let me tell you, it's easy!

This is a Crock-Pot recipe, but I have another stroganoff recipe that uses a skillet.

Ingredients:
1 Packet Homemade Gourmet® Grandmother’s Sunday Roast Seasoning
1  cup  water
2  tablespoons  flour
1  8-ounce  carton sliced fresh mushrooms
1  8-ounce  carton sour cream
1  12-ounce  package noodles, prepared according to package directions
2  pound  round steak, sliced in 3” lengths or cubed from leftover roast

Directions
1. Place meat in a slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients except sour cream and noodles; stir until well blended.
2. Pour mixture over meat and cook on high for 4 -5 hours or on low for 8 hours. During the last 1/2 to 1 hour of cooking time, stir in the sour cream.
3. Serve over cooked noodles.

Yummy!!! You can also make this a 4 meals in 4 minutes meal. Place all ingredients, except sour cream and noodles in a gallon sized ziptop freezer bag, SMOOSH, and lable Stroganoff Made Easy. Place in the freezer until ready to cook. When you are ready, pull it out of the freezer and put it into the slow cooker FROZEN! Add about 30 minutes to your cooking time to allow for the defrost, and voila! Stroganoff!

Of course you want to know the price breakdown:
HMG Grandmother's Sunday Roast Mix - $4.50 (This week's special! This price is only good until next Wednesday, Sept 2!)
2 pounds of Round Steak - $5.98 at Albertsons
1 package mushrooms - $2.50
1 cartom sour cream - $2.00
12 ounces noodles - $2.50 - I love the egg noodles for this!

Total - $17.48. Did I forget to mention something? Oh yeah! This feeds 6-8 people! That's less than $3 a person! I can't think of any restaurant you could go to that has Beef Stroganoff for $3 a person. Even better, though, this will bring your family back to the dinner table! Sit down for family dinner and actually enjoy it! Add something like HMG's Lemon Sandwich Cookies (5.50 special) for dessert, and HMG's Peach or Raspberry Iced Tea (5.50 special) for drinks!

Media Monday - on Wednesday :)

So I'm already off to a bad start, and I apologize. I'll be posting 3 times today, to catch up to where I should be.

I love the Odd News section on Yahoo. There's not a day that goes by when I don't laugh at at least 1 article. So I'm going to bring them to you.

Farmers issue warning after fatal cow attacks

Fatal Cow Attacks? I have never seen a vicious cow. In fact, I don't think I've even seen one run. So being attacked by a cow? Seriously? Ha. I could crawl and still outrun it. But apparently, there are killer cows. It all has to do with people walking their dogs. 4 people have died in the last 2 months in England because cows have tried attacking their dog, and got the person instead. The suggestion? Stop walking your dog in a field of cows!!!

Woman sues zoo over splashing dolphins

What's your favorite thing about Sea World? For me, it's the dolphins. I love to see the dolphin shows, and I think it's hilarious to watch the little kids sitting up front to get splashed with water and freak out. But getting wet at a dolphin show is to be expected, right? Well, this chick in Chicago decided that it wasn't. She is suing a zoo because they "failed to warn people about slippery floors around the dolphin enclosure". She also accused the zoo of allowing dolphin trainers to purposely create an unsafe environment with the splashing. She apparently slipped and is now suing for $50,000. Here's a safe assumption: If you are going to be anywhere near a 100,000 gallon tank of water, it's probably going to be wet. Watch where you walk.

New park offers X-rated views of NYC hotel guests

When I'm in a hotel, I am always very careful to keep my curtains shut. I don't want to take any chance of giving people a free show. I figured most other people were the same way. In New York, not so much. A Manhattan hotel, The Standard, features floor to ceiling windows. Too cool to me, unless I have been drinking and I'm a little wobbly. Wouldn't want to fall through them. But anyways, right across the street is a new park, called High Line. It was built on top of an abandoned elevated rail line, so it offers a better view of the hotel. But better isn't such a great thing. People aren't closing their blinds before they start dancing around naked. But it gets funnier. I checked out the website for the hotel, and it has a live webcam. The park isn't the only place to get a free show! Ha!

Today is a new day :)

It may seem like I am jumping on the "blogging bandwagon", and I can completely understand that assumption. I don't plan on boring people with details of my everyday life, though. I have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure out what to tell you about my life, and then it hit me. What's the point?

Instead, I want to help people. I want to post something different everyday that can do something for you. Here's the plan:

Media Mondays - I love to read the news. I also like to express my opinions. On Mondays, I'll pick a topic in the media, and write about my opinions. I know, this might not sound like I'm helping you with this one, but I tend to have eclectic views. I just might agree with a view of yours that you think no one else agrees with. Or maybe you need someone to vent to, and you don't like my views. Feel free to use our opposing views to relieve some stress. :)

Tasty Tuesdays - As a Homemade Gourmet consultant, I try to help you save money on dinners while bringing your family closer. I absolutely love the food I make with HMG, and I want to share it with you. So on Tuesdays, I'll post a new recipe I tried, along with a breakdown of the cost. I'll also have a special price on the HMG item I used, that will be good for a full week. If I post a recipe that used our Italian Mozarella Meatloaf Mix, the special price might be 4.50 for the mix instead of the typical 5.50.

Wind Down Wednesdays - I know how stressful the middle of the week can be. And just like my favorite restaurant, Johnny Carino's, has Wine Down Wednesdays, this day is dedicated to relaxing, even if for just a few minutes. I'll post some easy relaxation tip or some music to make your week a little brighter.

Thrifty Thursdays - I'm cheap. So I'll make sure you know about any really great deals I found. They could be from the grocery stores, coupons online, sales, discounts, etc.

Fabulously Free Fridays - I'll find great free activities for you do to by yourself, with that special someone, with the kids, with the girls, with the guys, you know what I mean. If it's fun, fabulous and oh so free, it'll be here. Please keep in mind, though, that I am in DFW, so this will almost always be something in the DFW area. If I find out about something else that I just have to tell you about and it's not located near DFW, I'll give you as much time as possible to plan a weekend trip. I'll add extra, cheap stuff to do, awesome hotels, etc. as well.

Woohoo It's the Weekend! - This will be my random post. I won't know what I'll post about until I log in. This could be the most interesting post of the week, so don't miss it! I know, though, that I will end the post with something to start your next work week out on a good note!

I can't wait to get started, and I hope you are as excited as I am!
